How simple can this be?

I had a great coaching call with one my students, Paul from Arizona, last Saturday.

He’s got several Probate deals he’s working on right now and just needed to ask few questions so he can get them closed.

One of the things he told me that might relate to some of you is he really can’t devote the time to Probate that he would like to.

Like most of you, Paul works full time and his job requires him to travel out of town about 50% of the time.

Consequently, he’s not available to work as many evenings as he would like.

On the other hand, just by using the four steps in the book and getting out as many letters as he can, he’s very close to closing on his first deal.

One of the questions that Paul asked gave me some insight into his thinking.

He was asking about some specific time periods and some specific percentages for making offers.

That’s when it dawned on me that maybe I had left out some serious points to all of you.

Here’s what I told Paul.

Investing in Real Estate is more of an art form than a science.

Because every situation is different and the needs of each seller are different, I can’t give specific formulas.

I give the best guidelines I can in my material but it’s tough to be exact.

Now for the vast majority of you folks who have sales oriented mind, this is no problem as you like the free flow and “artistic” component of RE investing.

However, for those of you with more of an “engineering” or linear mind set, this can be a problem.

You’d like for me to give you a specific set of instructions you can follow from start to finish.

Tough to do, since each deal is different.

However, as Paul has discovered, by just moving one step at a time, he’s pretty close to closing on his first deal and a couple of months ago, he didn’t have a clue.

He’s about 85% there and up until Sat I had never talked with Paul. He had gotten everything he needed from his “Seminar in a Box” purchase.

Another thing I liked about what Paul said is he is just looking to make a very small profit. Something between $5,000 to $10,000 will make him happy.

But the big take away I got from him was his belief that he could do it.

You see, I know that is what is holding many of you back.

You don’t believe you can do it.

Now whether your belief concerns today’s economy or is more about you personally, I don’t know.

But I do know this;

A belief is just a thought you keep thinking.
A belief is just a thought you keep thinking.

So it stands to reason if you decided to start thinking other thoughts, your beliefs would change.

So the old adage “If you think you can or you can’t, you’re right!” is certainly true here isn’t it?

I remember reading that back in the 50’s that it was commonly accepted that it was physically impossible for a person to run a mile in less than 4 minutes.

Could not be done!

Then Roger Banister came along and broke the barrier that everyone, except Roger, agreed was impossible.

He ran a mile in less than four minutes.

How could that be? It was an accepted FACT that it could not be done.

And then a few weeks later another guy named John Landy said if Banister can do it, I can do it….and he did…beat Banister’s time by more than a second.

Two guys who believed something different proved a “Fact” was wrong.

So I ask you…..What fact do you believe that is holding you back from changing your financial life?

Are you certain the economy is preventing you making money in Real Estate investing?

Paul’s not.

Are you pretty certain it’s more about you than the economy?

If you have been reading my newsletters for the past few months, you must have noticed that just about every week I tell you of someone just like yourself who has made their first Probate deal.

They’ve only got one small difference.

Their belief. They believe they can.

So as we saddle up for a new week, I ask you to give serious thought to any beliefs that may be holding you back and trapping you in your “Cage of Lack”.
