This time of year can provide a great learning experience
for all of us.
There are two different ways to gain wisdom. One is to
learn from your own life. The second is to study the
lives of others.
While we all know how hectic the holiday season can make
us, we can all benefit from learning the skill of
reflection, which is the the act of pondering life’s
events with the intent of learning from them.
The events of your life are some of your best sources
for learning. So instead of just “getting through
your days” how about the idea of “getting from your
days”.
Experience can become an incredible source of value, kind
of like currency for your life. But it can only become
valuable if you take the time to record it, to ponder
it and then turn it into something of value.
You’ve probably heard this said many times but often
times, the real value in an experience is not what happens
to you but rather what you do with what happens. Many
of us have had the exact same experience and some
benefit from it while others suffer.
Some learn from their experiences and some do not.
So a good time for refection is right now…
the end of the year.
What have the experiences of the last twelve months
taught you……good and bad?
How about if you take a few hours to gather up the
experiences of the past year and invest them in the
next one?
Take the time to write them down. The things you
did right over the last twelve months and the things
you did wrong. One of the ways we learn to do
something right is by doing it wrong so be sure to
study the negatives as well as the positives. Just
make you correct them and don’t repeat them.
So here’s my suggestion; go hide for a couple of
hours and give yourself a gift. Start writing down
the events of the last year. Go through month by
month what you can remember. Write down the good
stuff and the not so good stuff.
Then take some time to think about what you have
written. What can you learn from what you did….
and possibly even what you didn’t do.
Could this possibly be the basis for your goal setting
for 2010?
You ARE working on your written goals for 2010, aren’t
you?
So that’s my suggestion for today. Review your
experiences of 2009 with the intent of profiting and
benefiting from them in 2010.
Now since finances are a big part of everyone ‘s lives,
were you able to substantially improve yours in 2009?
Or did you just continue to repeat your 2008 experiences
in 2009?
Remember the definition of insanity..repeating the same
things over and over and expecting different results.
And one last thing.. are you having trouble remembering
what happened in Feb. 2009?
How about starting a new habit in 2010? Keep a journal of
your daily activity. That’s a whole new topic but it’s a
seed I want to plant.
A daily journal for 2010 will really help you benefit
for 2011.
Got to run as I am interviewing a student who is has
completely turned around his finances in 2009. I believe
he has flipped four houses in the last nine months for
some nice profits. Oh yeah, he did them all with Private
money….in other words none of his own……just exactly
the strategy Patrick Riddle and I showed you earlier
this year.
Want to know one of his lead sources? Yep, you guessed
it…..Probate!

So if after pondering your activities for 2009 you decide
one of your goals is to make some changes to improve your
financial situation, I highly recommend a real estate
strategy of some kind. Get going now! Of course
I recommend Probate Real Estate because that’s what I know
and teach but there are other ways also so just choose the
one that fit’s you best.

“One Man’s Passing!”
A good educator will not only provide you with valuable
information but will also stimulate your thinking with
thought provoking statements….some you understand and
some you don’t. Some you agree with, some you don’t.
Maybe that makes them a philosopher…..I’m not sure.
Jim Rohn was just such a man.
Even though I never met him personally, I did hear him
speak on two different occasions and over the years, I bought
many of of his tapes and books. He had an amazing low key
personality that just mesmerized me, as well as most all who
met him.
He was a guy that always brought a smile to my face when I
thought of him.
Unfortunately, Mr. Rohn passed away this past Saturday.
I vividly remember seeing him here in Portland at a local hotel
ballroom in 1984 and hearing him say,
“Success is something you attract by the person you become.”
WOW!
“Success is something you attract by the person you become.”
That statement really woke me up as up until then I had no
idea that I was responsible for everything that occurred
in my life and that personal development should be part
of my daily routine.
As a matter of fact, up until then I was a “to me” guy…
as in “life happens to me”.
It was from Mr. Rohn that I learned that if I wanted to
be “successful” I needed to work on Ron. I needed to
become a better person, not just a harder charging, harder
working person.
He also said “Profits are better than wages”.
That meant I had to work for myself and not someone else.
I was good with that as I had never been a great “employee”
anyway.
And finally he said “Your income is directly related to
your philosophy not the economy.”
Now that last one’s going to cause some of you some
problems, isn’t it?
But if you will think about that for a while, I think you’ll
discover the truth in his statement.

Just Google Jim Rohn or here’s a tribute

On the other hand, if you would like to learn more about how to stop worrying
about wages and to start learn more about profits, you can

Enjoy your week!
Rest in peace, Mr. Rohn, you’ve been a great mentor and
teacher.
The purpose of life is to make a difference.
